Transportation Services
Once a senior no longer feels confident or safe driving themselves, transportation becomes a major obstacle to living independently. Having access to a safe and reliable ride for running errands or attending appointments is crucial – particularly in the harsh Upper Peninsula, whose winters add extra challenges to getting around town.
Marquette Home Care offers transportation services to help your loved one complete errands. Our team can accompany our clients during errands and appointments as needed, as well.
Here are a few of the accommodations we provide in our Marquette senior transportation services:
Grocery Shopping
In addition to driving clients to the store, we can help create a grocery list and assist in completing their shopping. As with all trips, we focus on safety throughout each trip, helping to avoid potential injuries that could occur when shopping alone. We will transfer groceries to and from the vehicle, as well as unpack them and put them away. We can also schedule a grocery pickup and do the pickup ourselves.
General Errands
Whether your loved one needs a ride to the post office, pharmacy, or the bank, you can count on us to get them there safely. Adjusting to no longer being able to drive is a difficult transition for many of our clients, as they feel they are losing independence being stuck at home. Allowing our clients to continue running their own errands, rather than having these tasks completed by someone else, promotes a sense of independence. If it’s easier for us to run these errands, we are happy to do so.
Medical Appointments
Doctors’ appointments can be a challenge. Between the icy sidewalks in Marquette’s winter to medical language that can be difficult to understand, even independent Seniors can be overwhelmed. From finding the right office to taking notes during their appointment and helping them home, you can trust Marquette Home Care to help every step of the way. We work with our clients to give them as much independence during these appointments as they like, with all the backup care they need.
Social, Community, and Religious Events
Isolation can be detrimental to mental health. This is why it’s essential that your loved ones are able to continue gathering socially. We can help your loved ones keep in contact with their various social circles by safely transporting them to and from scheduled social meetups, family gatherings, clubs, or religious services.
